Die Resonanz Stanonczi: Edelbrand
The second release from this Salzburg-based quartet, on Nomansland Records** (Berlin). Featuring award-winning accordionist Johannes Steiner, brother drummer Robert Kainer, myself, and with clarinettist Norbert Asen often participating. We tour a bit every six months or so, and the lokal dialekt is starting to transform from noises to words. Servus! Voll geill!
We began in April, 2006, and get together every six months. We look forward to touring in March/April 2008.
It's really quite a magical formation. Featuring award-winning accordionist Johannes Steiner, brother drummer Robert Kainer, myself, and with clarinettist Norbert Asen often participating. Listen to Die Resonanz on myspace.com

**...Nomansland is a fantastic label run by my dear old friend Gerd Busse.
He set up 4 concerts for the Tone Dogs in East Germany in 1991, on our last tour, and a fine friend since then.
He's also released the first Die Resonanz CD (Live at Jazzit), Tiptons: Tsunami, and the historic 1998 Pollo d'Oro with Tiptons & Ne Zhdali, an incredible winter recording adventure in Tallinn.

Die Resonanz at Vienna Akkordion Festival , a great live recording of Die Resonanz double billing and collaborating with Turkish singer Alp Bora 's band, Nim Sofyan, on 20 March 2008.

MAISIE: Festa in Casa / Balera Metropolitana (Snowdonia/Spoot)
Cinzia la Fauci & Alberto Scotti run the Messina-based indy label Snowdonia, which has tons of releases. They also play in Maisie, and invited me to collaborate. Festa in Casa is a result of collaboration through the mail - they sent me tracks, I wrote silly words & sang. Balera Metropolitana is the 2nd CD, full of pop wonders, with the collaboration of dozens of musicians throughout Italy. Some real popular gems! I spent a week in April at Seahorse Studios in Arco Felice (Napoli) to lay down various tracks on Balera. This fabulous double CD has been released on Snowdonia Records in Messina, Sicily, to rave reviews.

KMFDM: Superstar
My housemate Jim Knodle (trumpet) & I (alto sax) are the horn section for 'Superpower' on KMFDM's new CD, Tohuvabohu.
This is my 3rd time recording with them, it's a blast.

Naruwan
A group of kids from the Camphor Tree School in Shijr City, Taipei County have been playing samba for a few years. I spent February, May & June 2007 in Taiwan, working on a commission by Gordon Tsai, founder of the Dream Community.
I arranged Taiwanese traditional & popular music with various samba beats, got Jonathan Gregory & Xiao Mei to teach them the songs & to sing while drumming, and I produced a recording of 9 songs. Recording engineer: Guan Yuu
Read my Taiwan Blog at Patty Herlevi's site.
You can see some of my Taiwan photos, if you become my friend on myspace.
Listen to a wild mash-up of the songs on my myspace.

FRANCISCO LOPEZ
My dear pal Francisco Lopez wrote to say 'the long-awaited projects with the "absolute noise ensemble" just came out on a double-CD release put out by Blossoming Noise.
This includes both excerpts from the live shows of the ensemble (at Sonar Festival, Observatori Festival, Abaixadors Deu, MACBA, and Craig Pumping Station - Montreal, between 2000 and 2002), and the big guitar project (from 1992 to 2003). I played some guitar, can't wait to hear the results!

*Capodanno a Napoli!
New Year's Eve gig in Naples, Italy!
My Quintetto alla Busara accompanied Les Farfadais, a French circus in Piazza del Plebiscito, the biggest piazza in Napoli, with no rehearsal & inclement weather.
They made us wear white flannel zip-up pyjamas and winsome blue hats made of carpet fragments. Soaking wet instruments. International TV Broadcast. Delirio totale. Nonostante la pioggia, nessuna prova generale, e le cose techniche andando ai pezzi, e' andato molto bene! Prodotto di ArtScena.
